It better to have collective bargaining...just look at the uncompetiveness of La Liga and Serie A. If the Premiership adopted their financial model then overnight most of the teams would be pushed into receivership including ours.

At least every team here gets £100m plus prize money depending on final position.

Re: The 2019 Championships, Wimbledon
You could argue that Chesterfields centre forward has had as many early starts and training sessions as Sergio Aguero but don’t imagine he expects he should be paid as much.

Have said before that Wimbledon (like the Olympics) is one of the few sporting events that at the very top level (ie the Grand Slams) is sold as a package of men’s and women’s tennis so the women COULD argue they are equal partners.
Would be interesting though if they separated it into two tournaments one after the other and totted up the ticket, sponsorship and tv revenue.

Re: The 2019 Championships, Wimbledon
Call me dim but I assume that the equal prize money is reward for the years of early starts and training from a very young age which only intensifies during a professional career.

The women might only go to 3 sets but the journey to get to professional status in the first place is most probably the same as the men.

Re: The 2019 Championships, Wimbledon
I think there has been talk that in the future there could be a change for the women to go to the same number of sets as the men, particularly in the slams and say from the quarter final stage. I think the women would welcome this.

I don't begrudge Halep her money, thought she was superb the way she dismantled Williams!

No issues with the prize money, only the sad cunts want to analyse things like that.

prize money (or even sport itself) isnt measured by the hour)
...presumably some people wanted female marathon winners to earn a lot more more than Usain Bolt and his ten seconds

Except, rather ridiculously, they don't. The two who women played for 56 minutes yesterday got exactly the same dough as these two blokes got for 4 hours 57 minutes of vastly superior tennis.
Or perhaps you were being ironic.

I don’t think they do. Have a feeling that both sexes get paid the same in majors. However, they shouldn’t do.

Although a great match personally I prefer the Borg era when there was more serve and volley, today it's more I'll hit it to you, you hit it back until someone makes a mistake.

This match has lasted longer than Andy Carroll's season.

I thought it would be dull. I was wrong.
